Great post, very serious business! The false economy of crappy toilet paper left outside the dispenser often annoys me too. I tend to go out now with my own small stash of superior quality materials 🙂
My theory about crappy commercial TP is they don’t want people taking it home, so it comes on a roll incompatible with home TP holders. And as for the lack of quality, my suspicion is it has to do with an underlying philosophy of American capitalism – we’ll take your money but not your poop!
