I love the story of how you found yours! When mine arrived, the hubster wanted to watch as I tried it out. Being unfamiliar with the SM9, i didn’t see the carriage release lever for what it was, and looked all over the machine. Seeing nothing that would appear to lock or unlock it, I tapped a couple keys… nothing. Tried gently to move the carriage from side to side. Nothing. Uh oh… Houston, we have a problem. Then I recalled a video I’d watched, and flipped the lever. That’s when the heavens opened and the Angeles began to sing😊
Glad you are recovering. The SM9 is your getting-better gift to yourself.
